How to legalise a document

As we are a high commission rather than an embassy, we do not legalise documents.

The services we offer are:

Witnessing a signature

We are able to witness and put our stamp against the signatures of the following:

  • an official of the Cyprus Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • an official of the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (based in the UK or at one of our embassies, consulates or high commissions abroad)
  • a British National, where they are able to attend the British High Commission in person and sign in front of a consular officer – please remember to bring your passport as proof of identification.

No appointment is needed, although it may not always be possible to complete the service while you wait in cases where we need to authenticate the signature we are being asked to witness.

The fee for this service is €42.00.

Making a true copy of a document

We can certify a true copy of any UK document, including UK passports, where the original has been seen at the British High Commission.

No appointment is needed, although it may not always be possible to complete the service while you wait.

The fee for this service is currently €39.00.
