If you have a property problem

The problems that property buyers experience are very similar in both the north and the south of the island.  The High Commission is unable to get involved in individual property problems or legal disputes, but does support community associations that are dedicated to resolving the problems of property buyers.

Purchasers in the south may find the Cyprus Property Action Group website helpful.

Purchasers in the north may find the Home Buyers’ Pressure Group website helpful.

Note that the High Commission does not endorse, nor is responsible for, the content of these websites.

Complaints about lawyers can be made to either the Cyprus Bar Association  in the south or BARO + 90392 22 70841 in the north.

Take independent legal advice from Local Lawyers and Lawyers in northern Cyprus  before pursuing legal action against your lawyer, estate agent, developer, construction company or architect.

If you believe that you have been subject to a property crime, you should make a statement to the local police.  Remember to obtain a copy of the statement and ask for the incident number (unlike in the UK, you may not be given this).

The High Commission publishes answers to Frequently Asked Questions about Property.  This can be downloaded from our website or can be requested by sending an email with the word “property” in the subject line to nicosia.consular@fco.gov.uk.
