PM Gordon Brown meets the President of Cyprus, Demetris Christofias at 10 Downing Street (06/06/2008)
On 5 June President Christofias and Foreign Minister Kyprianou met with Prime Minister Gordon Brown and the Foreign Secretary David Milliband in London. During their meeting the PM offered his full support to President Christofias' work in seeking a solution to the Cyprus Problem, saying that it was right to seek a solution "by Cypriots, for Cypriots". Both leaders also stressed their desire to improve relations between the two countries and build on the strong people-to-people relations. To reinforce this Mr Brown and Mr Christofias announced that they had signed a memorandum of understanding, setting out areas of mutual co-operation and ensuring the two countries build a "strong, forward-looking and modern relationship".
