Press Centre

Press and Public Affairs Section is the public face of the High Commission.  It is there to answer questions not only from professional journalists but also any member of the public who has a question about the UK.  It issues up-to-date information on British policies, in particular those of most interest to Cyprus. (You can also find a wide variety of information on government policy plus the latest press releases from British Government Ministries on the FCO website, which is updated daily.)

We receive hundreds of telephone and written requests every year and do our best to answer enquiries.  We can answer certain simple questions on the spot, but others require more research and it may take us a few days to get an answer, consulting our extensive information and library resources in London.  A wide range of leaflets and booklets giving background information about the UK are available free of charge.  If we do not have access to the information you want, we can usually direct you towards likely sources.

The High Commission can do a great deal for Cypriot media outlets.  We can organise free pictures and articles on the UK.  For further information on the services we can provide, telephone Katerina Nicolaou on 22861383, or e-mail Katerina Nicolaou.   If you are calling from northern Cyprus, call Funda Akpinar on 2283862 or e-mail Funda Akpinar.

For general information, contact Sourpic Kasardjian on 22861381 or e-mail Sourpic Kasardjian.

We are always happy to take any press enquiries.  Telephone the press officer, Paul Lakin, on 22861380 or 99686184 (or 0392 2283862 from northern Cyprus), or e-mail Paul Lakin.
