The Defence section of the High Commission exists to promote and facilitate defence cooperation between Britain and Cyprus focusing on a range of issues including operations, training and manning.  It also exists to facilitate close relations between the British Sovereign Base Areas in Episkopi and Dhekelia with the Republic of Cyprus.  There is also a British Contingent in the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus.  The Defence section can also advise the British defence industry on co-operation with Cyprus.
